If you have girls, you probably have some inkling of what I mean. For the last couple of years, it has been almost impossible to find an acceptable pair of shorts. Most of them look like they come from what I like to call the 'Daisy' line.

Please don't get me wrong! I want my girls to look cute and trendy, just modestly so.
Designers these days know that the way to sell clothing is to emulate celebrities. That's all well and good, depending on the celebrity they choose.
Honestly, when you tell the kids to go get dressed, which in-home version would you rather see:
Taylor Swift |
Lady Gaga |
I'm Just Sayin' . . .
Amen, sister!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we just start our own clothing line?
Surely there are enough of us old fogies, uh...I mean modest dressers out there that we could turn a profit!
What do ya say, cuz?!?!
Kerri
I'm an old fogie, but of the male variety. And I think the silent majority needs to start doing something. Why can't modest be just as hip as what a weird fashion designer in Paris comes up with. Get with it gals.
ReplyDeleteAng,
ReplyDeleteI say HEAR! HEAR! Like my fellow "old fogie" Broconeer, Ray! A.coarse, the male variety of the cult.ure needs to get with "bein' hip" and find their hips, when it comes to jeans. I mean, I just don't think that style's in the genes, if'n you knows what I means!
Jim-Dad
Preach it!
ReplyDeleteIt will not get better. Try dressing a teenager with curves. AGH!!!
I'm so glad that I lived in an age when fashion wasn't as important to teenagers as today. In part, I'm speaking of their need to have THE name brands in clothes and shoes. The expensive brands! My mom sewed a lot of my clothes. I doubt I was as appreciative of it then as I was later.
ReplyDeleteOh, there were "fads" when I was growing up, such as wearing your dad's white shirts (hanging out and long, or gathered and tied in the front).
Or, petticoats under very full skirts. I can remember Mom starching my net petticoats to where they practically stood by themselves! Then, I would wear 4 or 5 of them under my skirt, making it necessary to tuck it in just so when I sat at my school desk, it wouldn't rise up to where it would be immodest.
Ah! The good ol' days!
I send you good wishes and good luck as you journey with your girls.
